First WNV Positive Result in Static Trap for 2018

Mosquito Repellent

Today, August 22, 2018, the Tarrant County Public Health Department informed the City of Bedford about one positive result for West Nile Virus in the most recent mosquito pools tested in the City.
This was a static trap located in the Brookside Dr. and Laurel Ln. area.

This is the first positive trap for the 2018 season.

Residents within a quarter mile radius of the trapping station will be notified by Bedford Alert. The Storm Water Crew will be treating the positive trap site prior to 6:00 am tomorrow, August 23, 2018.
Please take the necessary precautions to protect yourself from mosquito bites in order to reduce the chance of getting an infected bite.  This includes using an insect repellent containing an EPA-registered active ingredient.

Check your home for possible mosquito breeding sites, such as standing water in flower pots.  Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn so take extra precaution during those times.

For additional information on West Nile Virus, contact the Public Works Department at 817-952-2200.
