[ARCHIVED] Council Approves In-Person Summer Special Events, Re-Imagining City’s Signature Event for 2022

During the April 13 meeting, City Council members approved staff’s request for in-person summer events to begin May 3, with suggested COVID-19 precautions at each event. This means the official return of summer camps, library programs, senior citizen programming, and much more.

𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗦
Bedford staff is in the process of planning a great summer camp program. When ready, details and a registration link will be posted at www.bedfordtx.gov/summercamp. This information will also be promoted on the City’s website and social media channels.

𝗟𝗜𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦
In-person library programs will return next month, starting with Family Story Time and “Moment of Science” programs on Tuesday, June 1. For all upcoming Bedford Public Library events, please visit https://bedfordlibrary.org/

𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚
Senior events and programs will also return around the same time, with most activities at Old Bedford School and the Public Library. Seniors can look forward to a regular dance night at the Library, which is in the works. More details to come at www.bedfordtx.gov/seniors.  

𝗣𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗦
The public is now able to rent park pavilions and the Roy Savage Pool online starting Monday, May 17 at www.bedfordtx.gov. For questions, please email recreation@bedfordtx.gov

𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗧𝗛
The City is planning a fireworks display. However, there will not be the typical in-person events and entertainment that comprise Bedford’s annual Fourth Fest.

𝗕𝗘𝗗𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗗 𝗕𝗕𝗤 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧
The City will not hold the annual BBQ and Blues Fest this year. Instead, City officials will take the extra the extra time that’s needed to fully reimagine and create a new signature event for the community. Over the next year, there will need to be multiple discussions with City Council and the time necessary for planning and securing great entertainment and vendors. The Council plans to host the City’s future signature event in 2022 at the perfect venue, the new Generations Park.
