This week, Oncor informed City staff the East End Trail Park playground, located at 3700 Hastings Place, along with several trees, needs to be removed because they’ve increased their restrictions regarding what is placed within their easement since the 2021 winter storm. This is for Oncor workers to have the best access possible to their equipment and infrastructure in the case of an emergency.
Due to the playground’s age, it cannot be moved to another location. The playground will be removed by the City next week, weather pending. Until its removal, Oncor has fenced off the playground to prevent it from being used.
The City is looking for other opportunities to add amenities to our other existing parks, away from the Oncor utility easement. If you’d like to submit your input about future parks and trails amenities in Bedford, public input boards are located at the Library (2424 Forest Ridge Dr.) through Sunday, May 1. The boards ask residents what existing amenities they use the most now in our parks, what future amenities they’d like to vote for from a list, and what amenities they’d like to add to Bedford parks and trails in the future (not on the list). For additional details, visit the City's website.
