Celebrate Independence Day with the City of Bedford on Monday, July 4 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Old Bedford School, 2400 School Lane. The Bedford 4th Picnic will feature free live music by the Inspiration Band, lawn games, food trucks, and a spectacular fireworks show when the sun goes down.
Admission to the picnic is FREE. Feel free to bring lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, and non-alcoholic beverages (no glass containers are permitted).
Fireworks
The fireworks show will begin around 9:30 p.m. The fireworks will be shot off from Generations Park at Boys Ranch. However, there will not be any designated place to view them, since the park is still under construction and not open to pedestrian or vehicular traffic. Instead, crews will be shooting the fireworks 200-feet higher (similar to the 2021 show), so residents can view them from further away.
Residents are encouraged to find safe, alternate locations to view the fireworks and refrain from coming to the park. All traffic laws will be strictly enforced. Patrons are also asked to be respectful to the neighborhoods adjacent to the park when finding parking locations to view the fireworks. Please remember, private fireworks are prohibited in the City of Bedford.
Parking
Parking will be available for the general public in the grass lot across from Bedford City Hall, Building C (1805 L. Don Dodson Blvd.), beginning at 4 p.m. Parking is $10 per car, cash only. There will be no shuttle service available.
Handicap parking is available at the Bedford Public Library, 2424 Forest Ridge Dr. A handicap placard or tag is required.
Road Closures
Please keep in mind, Forest Ridge Drive, between Harwood Road and Shady Ridge Drive, will be closed beginning at 4 p.m. Bedford Road will also be closed from Barr Drive to Forest Ridge Drive. When available, additional information on road closures will be found online.
