UPDATE: Wow! In less than a day, the Bedford Police Department has already received 50 online forms for this program. BPD has created a waitlist that is up to two months at this moment, and will be contacting all those who have submitted applications to let them know they have been put on the list. We are also looking into ways to provide additional kits for residents, at this time.

ORIGINAL POST: To help residents protect their property, the Bedford Police Department is now offering take-home catalytic converter theft prevention kits! Bedford residents can check-out a kit, which includes the supplies needed to etch a VIN number and spray paint a vehicle’s catalytic converter. Each kit comes with a cordless engraver, high temperature paint, and how-to instructions.
To check-out a kit, please fill out the online form. Kits can be checked out Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. BPD will contact residents (in order of submitted forms) to pick up a kit at the Police Station, 2121 L. Don Dodson Dr, during normal business hours. Once all kits have been checked out, a waiting list will be created.
