[ARCHIVED] City Issues Emergency Water Conservation Request

A sprinkler watering a lawn

The Trinity River Authority, the City’s water supplier, notified the City there is a break in a 48-inch water line that supplies the south side of Bedford. In an effort to conserve as much water as possible throughout the system and continue providing enough water for drinking and bathing to all residents, the City is requesting residents to pause all sprinkler systems over the next five days while critical repairs are made to the water line.

The Public Works Department has already taken steps to notify the Parks Department at this late hour to turn off all scheduled morning irrigation as soon as possible in parks and medians to help conserve water, as well. More information will be released as the City looks for additional ways to save water during this critical time.

Please note, the City’s water supply remains safe to drink and use as necessary. There is no boil water advisory in effect.
